CREATIVE HOME OFFICE

A LACK-LUSTER SPARE BEDROOM GETS AN UPGRADE

A series of past remodels turned this spare bedroom into a jumble of accidental spaces. The goal was to create a home office space that could be functional and good looking so the family would want to spend time in the room everyday. To keep the home office from feeling sterile we layered in soft finishes like the red velvet sofa, custom drapery panels, and a custom ottoman covered in Claremont’s Tree of Life pattern.

Of course, designing a workspace is about more than just pretty fabrics and furniture—it’s about creating an environment where productivity and comfort live side by side. That’s why lighting, storage, and layout become just as important as décor. Businesses know this too; when planning an office fit out in essex, for example, the focus isn’t only on aesthetics but also on how the space supports daily workflows, encourages collaboration, and keeps the atmosphere welcoming. The best office spaces strike that perfect balance between practical function and inspiring design.

The addition of a barrel-vault, and the custom white oak tambour paneling, created an eye-catching focal point for the desk area. The room was painted in Dunn Edward’s Alabaster to create a warm envelope with contrasting trim on the original wood windows in Dunn Edward’s Dark Shadows. Finally, we added alabaster wall sconces and brass star ceiling fixtures to soften the room at night. The finished result is a room that’s worth hanging out in long after work is done.

Enhancing a space with thoughtful architectural details and warm finishes shows how much the right upgrades can transform the way a room feels and functions, especially in areas where people work, relax, and gather. Once the layout, lighting, and design elements fall into place, the next layer of improvement often comes from refining the surfaces underfoot, since flooring has a powerful effect on both comfort and visual harmony.

In many home office remodels, integrating durable, stylish materials becomes the finishing touch that brings the entire environment together. With this in mind, livin flooring contractors provide the kind of craftsmanship and material expertise that helps homeowners choose floors that elevate a room’s character while standing up to everyday use. Whether the goal is warmth, texture, or long-term resilience, the right flooring choice can complete the transformation, making the space not only beautiful but also practical and inviting for years to come.

As this thoughtfully crafted workspace shows, every detail contributes to how a room feels and functions, and once the design supports daily rhythms, people naturally begin to notice the smaller elements that influence the flow of work, from the clarity of video calls to the reliability of digital tools woven into their routines. Many homeowners who refine their office environments eventually look for ways to strengthen connectivity so their tech experience matches the comfort of their surroundings, and some explore options to improve the cell signal in your building as part of elevating the overall productivity of the space. Enhancing indoor coverage can make remote meetings smoother, reduce interruptions, and create a sense of effortless connection that aligns with the room’s design intent, allowing the finished office to feel just as efficient as it is inviting.

WE FOCUSED ON THE MAIN OFFICE FIRST, BECAUSE IT RARELY WORKS OUT WHEN YOU ASK A SPARE BEDROOM TO SERVE TOO MANY PURPOSES.
