CLIFF MAY RANCHO REMODEL

A MIDCENTURY MODERN RANCHO DESTINED FOR ENTERTAINING

Purchasing a home from it’s original owners can be equal parts exciting and nerve-racking. When our clients purchased this Cliff May home in the Rancho Estates neighborhood of Long Beach,CA they wanted to honor the home’s original style while adapting it for a modern family. Unfortunately, after more than 60 years nearly everything needed to be updated, including all the plumbing and electrical. Our clients wanted this home to be a hub for entertaining friends and family by embracing the indoor-outdoor lifestyle most Californian’s dream of.

We maintained most of he home’s existing floor plan, but added another 20 square feet to each of the two bathrooms to create more storage and larger showers. All the finishes were upgraded to create a modern and approachable home. New brass lighting nods to midcentury modern styles, and vintage furniture adds credibility back to the mostly-new interior. We worked to carefully preserve the original post and beam architectural style including the original windows and doors during this project, a favorite feature of Cliff May enthusiasts.
