There were already beautiful details in this 1930 Spanish Bungalow bedroom, like the original wood casement windows. The goal with this project was to carry in other historically appropriate details to create an old world appeal to this blank-slate bedroom. We began by creating a calming backdrop with the limewash paint in Rococo by Portola Paints and anchored the room with newly added beams. A major goal in this smaller historic home was keeping the luxury of a king size bed so the remaining furnishings were kept tailored and open to avoid the room from feeling too heavy or over-filled. Adding to the sense of openness is the views of the garden framed by the tone on tone window casements.
An updated closet now feels like a special surprise by adding a custom rondel glass panel to the transom window, a calming wallpaper, and burnished brass hardware to the existing built-in dresser. This room is the ultimate space to unwind and relax.
