Neutral Christmas Decorating

Happy Holidays! Like so many people, Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love all the festivities, the candles burning, the twinkling lights, the day drinking! There’s so many celebrations going on with family and friends that it’s a constant food parade too. What’s more, my twin brother and I are December babies (the 20th) and my husband is a Christmas baby so we have plenty  of reasons to celebrate the season. I decided to pull together some of my favorite Christmas decorating ideas as we’re all decking our halls now that Thanksgiving has passed. What I love about each of these is that they have a traditional inspiration with a more modern bent. In the image above I love how Ginny Macdonald layered in neutrals to her existing home design so the Christmas decorations become an extension of her home without being too kitschy.

Classic Christmas Mantel Styling

Don’t you just love a classic mantel moment for Christmas? The garland and berries help soften the fireplace and bring in some natural color without being overwhelming. It makes me want to put my feet up and get cozy by the fire.

Holiday styled bar

What are the holidays without some cocktails!? Leave it to Emily Henderson to style the most beautiful bar. Even if you don’t have a bar in your home year-round, during all the holiday entertaining it makes sense to find a corner with a table, or a space on your kitchen counter to encourage guests to make their drinks (and messes) in one place.

Mudroom styled for Christmas

If only every mudroom could look so neat all the time. We’re not exactly worried about trampling in snow in Los Angeles, but we sure have been getting some rain lately. I love how adding the quick touches like a wreath and the pinecones bring the holiday spirit to this entry.

I’m not able to perfectly style every room in my house for the holidays, sometimes you just want bedrooms or bathrooms to be clear of the holiday influence. I love how these small rosemary wreaths add a touch of Christmas without going overboard. I’m going to make some of these as host(ess) gifts for the upcoming parties, I’ve got plenty of rosemary on my bushes in the garden.

Monochromatic Holiday Decorating

I definitely lean toward the iconic red, green and white Christmas decorations, but Brady Tolbert makes a good case for a monochromatic scheme. Everything feels so at peace with his already beautiful home. All the greenery and texture keep it feeling modern without being cold.

Scandinavian inspired holiday table setting

Speaking of monochromatic. This Scandinavian inspired table setting is so lovely, I would want to keep this out all month. This could be right out of a Swedish country home or a modern farmhouse. So much hygge to go around.

Frances Loom Vintage Rug Stockings

Talk about hygge, this moment from Frances Loom is making me feel warm and fuzzy. The color and texture of the vintage rug stockings are everything. She’s got them for sale in her shop and they are each so unique you might just want to have one for each member of the family.
